The Alberta Law Foundation was established under the Legal Profession Act,
effective April 1, 1973. The Foundation is the recipient of the interest which
banks, credit unions, trust companies, and treasury branches must pay on
clients' funds held in lawyers' general trust accounts. This does not include
interest paid on a specific trust investment held for an individual client. The
interest is made available by the Foundation to organizations engaged in
activities which are considered to be in keeping with the Foundation's objects.
The Foundation does not provide legal information and advice.

We are the voice of the legal profession and speak on issues that affect the
judiciary, the administration of justice and our profession. The CBA is the
premier provider of professional development for lawyers, ensuring that
Albertans have the highest quality legal representation. The Alberta Branch
promotes the work of lawyers through our public legal education programs and
Law Day activities. We assist the public in accessing legal help by providing
volunteers to assist non-profit organizations, advocating for expanded legal
aid and promoting pro bono work by lawyers. The CBA-Alberta does this and more
through the dedication of our members. These members include lawyers, judges
and law students who volunteer their time to advance the profession and the
public interest.
