PRESS RELEASE – Medicine Hat Law Day 2010 – April 24, 2010
10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Court Houses throughout Alberta will be opening their doors to the public in celebration of Law Day – an initiative of the Canadian Bar Association with support from the Alberta Law Foundation.
Medicine Hat Law Day will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Provincial Law Courts at 460 – 1st Street SE, in Medicine Hat.
The Law Day Committee has planned a fun-filled day of events for the whole family. There will be guided tours of the historic Court of Queen’s Bench Court House (at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.). There will be a Mock Trial for children: “The Big Bad Wolf v. The Three Little Pigs”.
Exhibits and demonstrations will be going on throughout the day: look for the Medicine Hat Police Service K-9 Unit demonstration at 11:00 a.m. and the drug sniffing dog demonstration at 12:00. Also, the public will have the opportunity to observe the Citizenship Court at 10:30 a.m.
Some other exhibits include: “Harold” the Explosive Disposal Robot; the Rollover simulator; Fire Service; R.C.M.P.; Medicine Hat Remand Centre; Photo Radar Demonstrations, plus many more.
Numerous service vehicles will be on display along River Road. As well, the Court House Holding Cells and the Law Library will be open to the public all day.
